Beyond the Times: Meditations on Culture, Christ & His Church

I grew up on the Central Coast of California and have enjoyed living in Santa Barbara for the last 10 years. I enjoy the “laid back” culture of Santa Barbara as well as the intellectually stimulating challenges of living in a university town. I’m usually found drinking inordinate amounts of coffee beverages while meeting people at our local coffee shops or nosing through a good book on theology. Most of my mentors have been dead for hundreds of years, but they continue to instruct me through their time-tested writings. I’m addicted to my iPod, which usually spins sermons, or music. I’m reading far too many books at the same time and loving every page. I like to go to movies but currently am stuck watching episode after episode of 24 on DVD. I enjoy food far too much; especially desserts of the chocolate variety. I love to play basketball, water polo, ultimate Frisbee or any number of other sports and am a naively optimistic Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan. If I could I’d travel the world. I dig hanging with family and friends and can’t get enough of my beautiful wife of 5 years, Jill, and our off-the-charts cute and magnetic 21 month old Caleb John.
